How should I prepare for class?

Once you are signed up and booked in for class, you can prepare for class by clearing your space, setting out your mat or towel and grabbing any props you might need. We recommend you remove any distractions from the room and that you have some water nearby to keep you hydrated. It’s thirsty work!

Do I need equipment to join in?

Ideally a yoga mat, a chair and a resistance band. However, if you don’t have a yoga mat, a floor that is suitable for working out on and a couple of folded towels will do the job! A long resistance band is used for the ‘bands’ classes, which are available to purchase on request. If you are a little stuck for props, useful household items include water bottles for light weights, books as blocks and a cushion as a ball!

For classes, please give 12 hours notice to cancel to avoid being charged.

What classes are best if I am new to exercise?

If you are new to exercise, it is important that you get the all clear from your doctor or healthcare professional prior to commencing exercise. Once you have been cleared for exercise, Pilates25 is a great class to start with, as it is a mat based pilates session, designed to help with breath, alignment and technique. From there, the Barre30 sessions would be a great next step. Each class is delivered with appropriate modifications, so you will feel safe and supported every step of the way.

How many classes should I do each week?

Due to variety of positions and exercises taught, you could take class every day if you wanted to! It is recommended that you have at least one rest day per week, so your muscles can recover, of course, but this is your choice. Making your exercise work with your current lifestyle is the most important thing.

I am injured at the moment. Can I still join in?

This depends on your current injury of course and it is always best to check with your doctor or healthcare professional as to what is best for you at the moment. As the class is low impact and posture focussed, it is usually injury friendly for most people.

The class is also taught with plenty of modifications, so you can choose what is best for you at that time. Our instructors have an expansive knowledge in injuries and will guide you through your session safely, with clear instructions as to how to do the exercises.

I am pre/post natal. Is this suitable for me?

Getting the ‘all clear’ from your doctor to exercise is the most important thing to do first! This is to ensure they are happy with your activities and that you and the baby are safe whilst exercising. After that, it is vital that you take the time to slowly return to exercise. During the class, listen out for the modifications. These will be optional movements for you to take to ensure you are working safely for your body.
